Marriage Armor for the #PrayingBride
Flood our hearts, Lord, with Your light so that we overflow with confident hope even on the difficult days. In Jesus, I pray. AmenTweet This
From the Bible
- I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. Ephesians 1:18
Applying the Bible to Marriage
Did you know that God’s light is also considered armor in the spiritual battle?
The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Romans 13:12
Gil’s Exposition Commentary on Romans 13:12 explains it like this:
By “works of darkness” are meant evil works, which are opposite to the light; to God, who is light itself; to Christ, the light of the world; to the word of God, both law and Gospel, which is a light to our paths; to both the light of nature, and the light of grace
So, if we are flooded with light, we are flooded with the reality of God Himself who lights our path. God who is wisdom to us lights or directs our path with His Word and His Holy Spirit. God knows everything and He can expose the darkness where evil tries to hide.
he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him. Daniel 2:22
even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you. Psalm 139:12
God overpowers the darkness. What might be hidden to us is not hidden to God.
How does His light fill us with confident hope on the difficult days?
Let me share how this has been true for me recently. I’ve struggled with something that affects me and our marriage for a long time. It’s been a long and difficult journey. Every time I ask God for help (instead of avoiding the pain of facing it) God shines His light on the situation in a new way. With His revelation (wisdom and insight), I am filled with hope that He is aware of the problem and He is guiding me to the answer.
Just yesterday, He prompted me to research a specific evil spirit and how its schemes show up in situations. What I learned has given me insight on how to pray. It has given me hope because I know that God is fighting for me and He is victorious in power against the evil one. I know that He is leading me to victory and teaching me things through this that I can use to comfort others (2 Corinthians 1:4). I’ve already been used by Him to help a friend see the work of this spirit in her family.
God is always offering us hope. The enemy is always trying to steal it. We have to be constantly aware of this and ready to pursue the hope God is offering. Our confidence in the hope He offers is renewed each time we experience Him and His light.
With today’s prayer, we are actively pursuing the light God is ready to bring to our trials.
Let the reality of this truth shine brightly into someone else’s life by sharing this post with others.
