Marriage Armor for the #PrayingBride
We praise You, God, the source of our happiness and joy. In Jesus, I pray. Amen
From the Bible
- Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. James 5:13
Applying the Bible to Marriage
James reminds us to “sing praises” when we are happy, cheerful, or feeling great. Why? Because every good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17).
He is our source of joy. He made each of us to be containers of His joy. I want to excel at acknowledging every single good thing. I want the world to hear me giving God credit for my good cheer.
Satan would like for us to feel terrible, look for and talk about the negative. His schemes also lead us to feeling numb when we are in the midst of a happy season or happy occasion. If that is the case in your life, ask God to help you get your ability to experience joy back. He redeems everything that has been damaged or stolen from us by his enemy.
Meanwhile, let’s ask the Holy Spirit to prompt us when it’s time to rejoice. Let’s ask Him to be our rejoicing coach. We can practice our joyful responses and be ready to talk about the many things in our lives and marriages that are worth celebrating.
Here’s a song that helps me remember and rehearse that God is the satisfier of my soul.
